Woman shot by gunmen in Bauchi solicits for help

A woman who was shot last month when
gunmen attacked a military check point in Bauchi
has appealed to government and well -meaning
Nigerians to come to her aid to save her life .
Safiya Hassan received four bullets shots when
the gunmen attacked a security checkpoint near
Zaranda village in Bauchi on January 18 2015 ,
killing many , including Safiya’ s friend who died
on the spot .
Narrating her ordeal on her hospital bed at the
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching
hospital in Bauchi yesterday, Safiya said she was
rushed to the emergency ward of the teaching
hospital unconscious stating that the incident
has shattered her life and dreams.
“ I was travelling from Zaranda village in
company with my friend in a Vetra Opel when
the gunmen attack the check point . I suddenly
heard gunshots and saw my friend fall flat as
bullets pumped her body while she was hit on
her thigh and chin before passing out , ” she said .
Safiya, a mother of three , said four bullets have
been extracted from her right leg which was
shattered by bullets and that over N 300, 000 have
so far been spent on her treatment with no
much improvement .
“ I teach at Royal Kids Private school. I have
been supported by friends and family since the
incident. Life has been difficult . ”
According to Safiya, three operations have so far
been carried out on her , expressing worry that
things may go from bad to worse if she is unable
to raise money for the treatment.
