Tragedy struck on Wednesday in Ore-
Meji area , Mokola , Ibadan, Oyo State
capital where two artisans , a bricklayer
and a vulcaniser died in a soak -away in
an incident where the third person ,
another artisan escaped death by
whiskers.
The deceased, identified as Wasiu and
Solomon were said to have died while
trying to evacuate the waste from the
soak -away.
They were invited by the residents of
the house for the evacuation of the
soak -away, according to an eyewitness
account .
Another eye - witness, Akamo Oladimeji ,
said that the third person whose
identity was not known had gone for a
pumping machine when the incident
happened .
According to him, the deceased had
earlier poured chemical on the soak
away before stepping on it , but , the
victims decided to do the job because
not much was coming from their own
trades .
He said men of the state Fire Service
were later invited to come and remove
the corpses which were taken to the
morgue .
Also , some policemen from Sango
Police Division were seen at the scene
of the incident .
