Hoodlums attack Ebonyi APC, APGA offices

According To News Reports From the Punch... Offices of the All Progressives Congress and
the All Progressives Grand Alliance have
come under attack in parts of Ebonyi State.
It was gathered that there was an
unsuccessful attempt to bomb the APC office
in Abakaliki on Sunday night, with objects
suspected to be improvised explosive devices.
However, the APGA office in Ohaukwu Local
Government Area of the state was destroyed,
along with houses of some members of the
party.
Eye witnesses alleged that those who
attacked the APGA office, and the houses of
members of the party, wore police uniforms.
The identity of the persons behind the
attacks is still unknown, but the the Police
Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Police
Command, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, who
confirmed the failed bombing of the APC
office, said the police has launched
investigations into the attacks, and would
soon apprehend the perpetrators.
In the meantime, senior police officers,
including the area commander, and the
divisional police officer in charge of Kpirikpiri
Road police station, were at the scene on
Monday, as well as the police bomb disposal
unit.
The APC governorship candidate, Ucha, urged
the Inspector General of Police to order a
thorough investigation into the incident.
He also urged his supporters to remain law
abiding.
In the same vein, the APGA governorship
candidate in the state, Senator Anthony
Agbo, has condemned destruction of the
party’s office, as well as the houses of some
members, in Ohaukwu.
According to him, “These agents of
destabilisation in company of over 20
policemen, attacked the houses of some
members in this area.
“They burnt the party’s office and destroyed
several properties such as furniture and
posters, as the policemen who wore police
vests and wielded AK 47 rifles, shot at the
houses of our members.”
The APGA governorship candidate added that
“it is clear that the forces of good and evil
are presently competing for the soul of
Ebonyi.”
He however explained that the party is yet to
report the attack to the police, but will do so
once the chairman, who is away in Abuja,
returns to the state.
