Abia State government has awarded a
N 110 million contract for the
installation of Super Solar Powered
Digital Traffic Light in high designated
traffic points in Umuahia.
The measure is to further ease traffic
control in Umuahia, the capital city.
At the Government House, Umuahia,
Thursday morning , the state
Commissioner for Information and
Strategy , Dr. ACB Agbazuere, said the
contract was awarded to a private firm,
Fralmore Integrated Services Limited .
Covered in the contract are the Okpara
Square, the Federal Medical Centre
( FMC) , Isigate -Umuwaya , BCA , Uzuakoli
Road junctions and Government House
roundabout and is expected to add to
the aesthetics of Umuahia.
He disclosed that the government will
soon perform the ceremony for the Abia
Airport as the peace meeting with the
stakeholders of the project is almost
completed, adding that the state
government is working hard to realise
the international auto market in Aba .
Agbazuere further stated that the
council congratulated the governor for
the successful hosting of the PDP
presidential and governorship flag- off
in Umuahia, noting that the mammoth
crowd that graced the occasion was as
a result of the accomplishments of
Governor TA Orji.
According to him, the executive also
lauded the governor for the Aba Mega
mall with its unique features , which
mark it out as the best in Africa.
He disclosed that about 2 ,000 shops
are ready in the market for acquisition .
He also revealed that government is
aware of the ploy by some opposition
political parties in the state that go
from house to house in parts of the
state to buy the permanent voters cards
from people for cloning purposes.
The commissioner advised Abians not
to sell their cards but rather to resist
such offers as their voters cards remain
their power to vote and warned
perpetrators of such heinous act to
desist or be prepared to face the full
weight of the law.
