A Nigerian
man was sentenced to the gallow by a High
Court in Malaysia after he was found guilty of
trafficking 2,150.4 grammes of
methamphetamine at the KL International
Airport (KLIA), Sepang, four years ago.
Judge Datuk Abdul Halim Aman made the
decision on Ibe Godwin Uzochukwu, 37, after
he was satisfied at the arguments of the
prosecution who managed to submit a prima
facie case.
Abdul Halim in his judgement said the court
found the defence of the accused was just
utter denial.
The accused was charged with committing the
offence at the Exit Route, KLIA Arrival Hall, at
4.30pm on July 1, 2011.
He was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of
the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is
punishable under Section 39B (2), of the same
act which carries a mandatory death sentence.
Six prosecution witnesses and a defence
witness were called during the trial.
Prosecution was handled by Deputy Public
Prosecutor Rashidah Abu Bakar while the
accused was represented by counsel Luqman
Mazlan.
